Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy covers Tend for iPhone, iPad and Android, this website, and messages you choose to send us. Odoson Olenghi SL publishes Tend and is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Our contact details are under Contact and support, with full company details in our Legal notice.

No accounts or tracking

The Tend app does not send your personal information or garden data to us, apart from the cutting details described under Cuttings. It has no accounts and does not use analytics, tracking, third-party advertising, or third-party crash-reporting services. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

The plants, artwork, and other game content are included in the app. Tend does not load remote game content.

Your garden and backups

Your plants, pots, garden progress, watering history, preferences, and purchase-related game records are stored locally. Tend’s widgets use a local copy of the information they need to display your garden. We cannot access this data.

On iPhone and iPad, automatic iCloud backup is on by default unless you’ve turned it off. When iCloud is available, Tend saves your pots, plants, nursery, garden progress, watering history and purchase-related game records to your private iCloud storage using Apple’s CloudKit service. Backups include their date and your device’s name so you can identify them. Plant models, generated previews and garden pictures are not uploaded. We cannot access your private iCloud backups.

You can turn automatic backup off or restore your garden in Tend’s Settings. Turning backup off stops future uploads and keeps existing backups. Deleting Tend also leaves your iCloud backups in place. Tend does not automatically synchronize gardens between devices.

To delete your iCloud backups, first turn off automatic backup in Tend on every device where you use it, so no new backups are made. Then open your iPhone or iPad’s Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Storage (or Manage Account Storage), select Tend, choose the option to delete its data, and confirm. See Apple’s iCloud storage guide.

Your device’s separate backup service may also include app data according to your device backup settings.

On Android, your garden, Tend’s settings and the garden pictures you take in Tend are included in your device’s Android backup if backup is turned on in your device settings, and can be copied when you move to a new Android device. Google stores Android backups in your Google Account; we cannot access them. You manage them in your device’s settings; see Google’s Android backup help. Tend also keeps a short local history of your garden on the device (the latest version and up to seven daily snapshots), so you can restore an earlier garden from Tend’s Settings. You can turn this local recovery history off there.

Cuttings

You can send a friend a cutting of one of your plants. When you send one, Tend sends our server the plant’s species, the plant collection it belongs to, your note if you write one, whether you use iOS or Android, and a plant code described below. The server creates a code and a link, such as patiomade.com/c/ABCD-2345, and keeps a record of the cutting. You choose where to share the link and its picture through your device’s share sheet. The QR code is made on your device.

Anyone with the link or code can see the cutting’s plant and note until it is planted, so do not put private information in a note. When your friend opens the link or enters the code, Tend asks our server for the cutting’s details. When they plant it, Tend tells the server, along with whether they use iOS or Android and whether they have just started a new garden. While you have cuttings that have not been planted, Tend checks their codes with our server at most once an hour to tell you when one took root. If you allow notifications, this check also runs in the background while Tend is closed; it sends the same codes and nothing else.

If your friend follows a cutting link to Google Play, Google Play passes the cutting code to Tend after installation. On iPhone and iPad, the cutting page can copy its link before opening the App Store, and the first time you start a garden, Tend checks whether your clipboard holds a link, without reading it. If it does, Tend offers a Paste button and reads the clipboard only if you tap Paste. Tend for Android does not use the clipboard.

The note is deleted from our server when the cutting is planted, or after 30 days if it is not. The rest of the record (the code, species, collection, dates, platforms and whether the friend started a new garden) contains no personal information and is kept so we can count how cuttings are used. We do not store a name, account, device identifier or IP address with a cutting.

Each plant can give one cutting a month. To check this, Tend sends a plant code: a one-way hash of the random IDs Tend creates for your garden and the plant, which cannot be turned back into those IDs. The server stores a further hash of that code with the time of the plant’s last cutting and that cutting’s code, and deletes it after 30 days, when the plant can give another cutting. It is not linked to your name, account, device or IP address.

To prevent abuse, the server limits how many cuttings each internet connection can send per hour. For this it stores a one-way hash of your IP address that changes every hour and cannot be turned back into the address. Hashes from earlier hours are deleted automatically. Like any request to this website, cutting requests also appear in our hosting provider’s standard server logs (see This website).

Cutting pages set no cookies and load nothing from other websites. Our legal basis is providing the feature you choose to use, and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and understanding how cuttings are used.

Purchases through Apple and Google Play

Apple handles in-app payments on iPhone and iPad, and Google Play handles them on Android. Tend uses the store’s purchase information on your device to unlock purchases and deliver items. We do not receive your payment-card details, and Tend does not send purchase records to a developer-operated server.

Apple’s handling of App Store information is explained in App Store & Privacy, and Google’s in the Google Privacy Policy.

Other apps from our studio

On iPhone and iPad, Tend may include links to other apps published by Odoson Olenghi SL. These links open the App Store. We do not track their views or taps or use advertising trackers.

Diagnostics from Apple and Google

On iPhone and iPad, if you choose to share diagnostics and usage information with Apple and app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage information. We use these to identify problems and improve Tend. This is handled by Apple, rather than an analytics or crash-reporting service built into Tend.

You can change your sharing choice in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. See Apple’s information about sharing analytics.

On Android, if you share usage and diagnostics information with Google, Google Play may provide us with crash reports and aggregated performance information about Tend. We use these the same way, and they are handled by Google rather than by a service built into Tend. See Google’s information about usage and diagnostics.

Reminders and garden pictures

With your permission, Tend schedules watering and gift reminders locally on your device, and notifies you when a cutting you sent takes root. You can change them in Tend’s Settings or turn notifications off in your device’s Settings.

If you choose to save or share a garden picture, Tend passes that picture to your device’s share sheet. You choose where it goes. Tend does not read your photo library or upload your pictures to us.

Keeping and deleting your data

Local game data stays on your device while you use Tend. On iPhone and iPad, deleting the app removes its local game data; offloading the app keeps that data. Tend’s iCloud backups remain until you delete them through iCloud storage settings. On Android, uninstalling Tend or clearing its storage removes its local game data, including the local recovery history, but Android may restore your garden from your Android backup when you reinstall. Photos you have exported, device backups, and purchase history are managed separately through the relevant Apple or Google services.

There is no Tend account or garden stored on our servers to delete. Cutting notes are deleted as described under Cuttings; to have one deleted sooner, email us the cutting’s code. Restoring a purchase does not restore a deleted garden; gardens are restored from your backups separately.

This website

When you visit this website, our hosting provider automatically processes standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, to deliver the site and keep it secure. These logs are kept only as long as needed for those purposes. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Contact and support

For privacy questions or support, email hello@patiomade.com.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use that information to respond to your request, with our email provider handling the correspondence. It is not collected automatically by the app.

Our website and email are hosted in Switzerland. Switzerland is outside the EU and is recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection.

Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering questions and providing support, or the performance of a contract when your request is necessary to fulfil a purchase or service agreement. We also retain information when required by law.

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your request, handle related follow-up, or meet legal obligations. You can use the same contact address to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability where the GDPR provides that right, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You can lodge a complaint with Spain’s Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), or with the data-protection authority in the EU country where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement occurred.

Children’s privacy

Tend has no accounts, tracking or advertising for any player, including children. A cutting note is the only text a player can send through the app; anyone with the cutting’s link can read it, and it is deleted when the cutting is planted or after 30 days. If a child sends us personal information in a support message or a cutting note, a parent or guardian can contact us to request its deletion.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
